“Johnny Roger” was originally started to be a lino-cut. I wanted to use it as my first D.I.Y. letterpress, which actually ended up being the more recent BLP (Bacon Letterpress). The idea was to create a Jolly Roger type icon (skull and crossed bones) – but with Johnny’s head and guitar necks crossed creating the “bones” on the bottom. I stopped working on this once I realized it was a little above my skills as far as the lino-cut goes, bust most of all – I wasn’t sure it it was the idea that was good – or if it was just a mediocre idea being held up by the legend of Johnny Cash? I ended up loosing interest in the project but am keeping it in my back pocket and hope to finish it up one day – possibly as a screen printed poster? Keep an eye out for this one sometime down the road….
